The State Department of Education’s study of the state education funding formula presents a monumental opportunity to ensure that schools have the resources necessary to provide all students an opportunity to succeed.  Advocates for Children and Youth has been an active member of the stakeholder group, advocating in particular for increased funding for schools with high levels of concentrated poverty, and also with populations of English language learners and students with disabilities.  In order for all children to succeed, ACY believes that schools must have adequate resources to provide not only instruction, but also the wrap-around services, including out-of-school time programming, mental health provision, and opportunities for older, disconnected youth, that many students need thrive.
