We are partnering with organizations that work with older youth nearing their emancipation from the child welfare system, as well as with youth who have already emancipated from foster care, to ensure that these young adults know about their rights and the benefits to which they are entitled. We want to make sure that these youth know about their eligibility for health insurance coverage, tuition waivers at Maryland state colleges and universities and, for former foster youth who are not yet 21 reopening a Child in Need of Assistance (CINA) case if they need further assistance from DSS.
