The Department of Human Resources (DHR) includes various data about foster youth on its website. However, none of the data is disaggregated by race/ethnicity so there is no way to compare outcomes for Maryland’s foster youth of color to their white counterparts. Furthermore, there is very little data that shows the outcomes for foster youth.
We need legislation to require DHR to:
• Disaggregate by age, gender, race, and ethnicity and gender the data that is currently posted on DHR’s website in the monthly data reports
• Report outcome data- including education & health outcomes and re-entries into care
