HB297/SB332 – Pre-Kindergarten Expansion Act of 2014
Expands the Preschool for All pilot program eligibility from 185% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) to 300% FPL. The bills also require the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) to including universal Pre-K as one of the components of the Thornton school funding formula adequacy study.
Why this bill is important:
Advocates for Children and Youth Supports this bill because it will expand Pre-K opportunities for more four-year-olds and looks requires a study of how to expand voluntary Pre-K to all four-year-olds.
